How to Show Legal Pages
You can host your own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service on your Fider site. Once they're set up, Fider shows them at /privacy and /terms, and links to them from the sign-in and sign-up screens.
Prerequisites
You need both documents written in Markdown. They must be named privacy.md and terms.md.
How to
Fider reads both files from /app/etc inside the container. Put them in a folder on your server and mount it as a volume.
For example, if you followed Hosting on Docker, copy the files to /var/fider/etc and add a volume to the app service in your docker-compose.yml:
app:
volumes:
- /var/fider/etc:/app/etc
Then restart Fider with docker compose up -d.
If you use docker run, add -v /var/fider/etc:/app/etc instead.
What users see
When both files are present:
- The sign-in page and sign-in dialog show "By signing in, you agree to the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service", with links to both pages.
- When someone creates a new site on the sign-up page, they must tick a box agreeing to both documents before continuing.
/privacyand/termsshow the documents. They are visible to everyone, even on a private site.
Things to know:
- Both files are required. If only one of them exists, Fider doesn't show any links or the agreement box.
- Restart after adding or removing the files. Fider checks whether the files exist once, when it first needs to. Changes to the content of an existing file show up immediately.
- In multi-tenant mode, the same documents apply to every board.
